I like the Kilometers but Wolverine says they use full grain leather rather than CXL, which explains why they don't feel as soft as the 1000 Miles.

My personal opinion is that Red Wing's leather can takes more of a beating since they're actually more of a work boot (originally for the Iron Range mines in Minnesota) compared to Chromexcel which is a very soft and supple leather which has a good pull-up but is more prone to scratches.
